Craft-produced firearm used to assassinate Shinzo Abe - Armament Research Services (ARES)
The fact that former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was killed by a craft-produced firearm in a country with firearms restrictions as stringent as Japan’s highlights the enduring fact that determined individuals remain able to produce a lethal firearm under almost any legal and cultural conditions. Nonetheless, the crude nature of the weapon used in this case also highlights the potential limitations of firearms. In the broader scheme of modern craft-produced firearms, the example employed in the assassination of Shinzo Abe sits at the lower end of the spectrum of capability.

Will No One Defend the American Republic?
the United States is careening towards a right-wing dictatorship that is highly likely to be either deranged or unstable or both over the medium term, thus threatening a chaotic collapse of the global economic system that might kill billions (especially in concert with climate change).

Elon Musk Trying to Back Out of Twitter Deal
Musk's misguided approach to free speech, which says anything that is not explicitly illegal is allowed, would have made Twitter an open forum for spreading lies and hate.

Matt Levine: Elon’s Out - Bloomberg
Musk will make this fight as unpleasant as possible; already the attorney general of Texas has opened an investigation of Twitter’s bot numbers in order to harass Twitter and capitalize on Musk’s popularity with Republican voters. I have suggested in the past that Twitter’s best weapon in this dispute would be banning Musk from Twitter, because he is such an addict, but in fact he recently stayed off Twitter voluntarily for nine days, which I assume he did just to prove to Twitter the company that he can survive without Twitter the product. It is all going to be pretty awful and stupid.
