Second Largest US Bank Failure In History: First Republic Bank Seized By FDIC, Sold To JPMorgan
early on Monday morning, the US unveiled a hybrid solution - after all other attempts at a private rescue effort failed - one where the FDIC would seize the insolvent First Republic, the 14th largest US bank by assets, making it the second biggest bank failure in US history, and immediately sell the bulk of its assets and all of its deposits to JPMorgan after a sham but "highly competitive bidding process" had taken place over the weekend (one in which virtually nobody wanted to participate as nobody would buy FRC without explicit government backstops, which in the end is precisely what they ended up getting on FRC's IO and CRE loan portfolio) while keeping FRC's toxic Interest-only mortgages to Hamptons' billionaires.
in 1994, Congress adopted a policy that bars a bank from buying another bank if the combined entity would hold more than 10% of the country’s deposits. JPMorgan bypassed this law to acquire First Republic. JPMorgan currently holds 16.1% of the total deposits in the United States.

Biden Challengers Will Have To Beat Censorship Regime in 2024 | Opinion
Biden's challengers will also be facing a hostile and censorious information regime that transcends Biden and the Democratic Party, under which dissent from Ruling Class orthodoxy will likely be given no hearing, and dissenters given few platforms—on grounds of protecting "health" and "public safety." Biden's opponents left and right may raise compelling points on any number of critical and contentious issues, but will Americans be permitted to see or hear them?
