The January 6 Conspiracy Theories Are Still Dumb | National Review
A “mostly peaceful” riot is a riot, nonetheless.
Americans who would benefit enormously from just logging off latched onto the footage as evidence that the January 6 attacks were a false flag. “I’ve said it all along,” Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene insisted. “MAGA did not do this.” The evidence for this claim is derived from a grainy screen grab of a rioter holding up a vape pen that fevered Internet sleuths mistook for a badge.
The omnidirectional revisionism in which some of the GOP’s more irresponsible lawmakers and right-wing broadcasters are invested is designed to complicate an otherwise understandable narrative.
In the process, however, Trump’s partisans are doing the Democrats’ work for them. They are resurfacing the footage from that day and, with it, the public’s distaste for the rioters and the conspiracy theory around which they rallied. They are reminding voters of that day’s painful emotional experience. They are demonstrating the degree to which their paranoid persecution complex clouds their judgment.

Sheryl Sandberg: Something we can all agree on | CNN
We have come so far in believing survivors of rape and assault in so many situations, yet this time, many are ignoring the stories that these bodies tell us about how these women spent the last moments of their lives. The silence on these war crimes is deafening. It’s time to see beyond historical arguments about the past and political arguments about the future to denounce this now.

Charging a lithium battery to 80% only? | Hacker News
I wish they would label it so that it shows 100% charge when it's actually charged 80%, and then give an option to 'overcharge' a configurable amount till 125% (the current 100%). That way it will make people aware that they are reducing the battery life by overcharging, and be picky when they overcharge.

When data on the PPP loans finally was released to the public by the SBA, the fears of widespread fraud were confirmed. Reviewing local businesses that received loans, I spotted clear fabrications. Recognizing that local familiarity aided fraud detection, I established PPP Detective to harness communal knowledge. While not every report was accurate, many illuminated fraudulent activity, and the community's response was overwhelmingly positive. Media attention and growing site visits correlated with a steady influx of fraud reports, totaling over 300,000 for 75,000 loans.
the objectives of the PPP Detective website have largely been realized. Law enforcement at all levels has taken on the task of investigating PPP fraud. Numerous convictions have been secured, crime rings exposed, and the SBA has acknowledged the extent of fraud that occurred.
