I’ve been thinking a lot about Michael B Tager’s Nazi bar story, which I’ll copy and paste in full below (now that he’s left X/Twitter and the original source is lost to time):
- the "nazi bar story" is a big feature in this latest wave of "Substack Nazis" PR fluff. Often accompanied by soothing reassurances that "there can be no tolerance for extremists" and a complete lack of questions about "what is extreme?" Replace the word "Nazi" with "Black" or "Jew" in the story ... it is nothing but the age old prejudice that we used to agree was bad.
