The console wars have been lost
Valve really does win by doing absolutely nothing while the rest of the industry shoots itself in the head. I fear for what happens when Gabe Newell retires and the MBA cancer fully infects Valve.
- Valve doesn't do "nothing"; they provide an honest, limited service, reliably. refraining from chasing ways to alienate customers is obviously difficult; very few companies seem to be able to do it.

Feds Are Pushing a New Gas Station Chain Selling Cheap Fuel
The White House account on X introduced the nation to the Freedom Fuel Network on Tuesday, advertising $3.47 per gallon for regular. The company’s connection to the federal government is unclear. A White House spokesperson reportedly told CBS News that Freedom Fuel is privately owned, that “the Trump administration is not involved with the company and is not subsidizing the gas stations,” and that, “the stations can offer lower prices by reducing their profit margins.”

Police department relieved of duty in West Virginia town
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, the Barrackville Police Department announced that, effective immediately, every member of the department has been relieved of duty by the Barrackville Town Council and the mayor. The entire police department at the time consisted of just two officers. One of the officers, former Barrackville Police Sgt. Hunt told Nexstar’s WBOY that after arriving at the department Tuesday morning, he found that someone had broken into the evidence room. Hunt then called a meeting with Mayor Tom Straight and the Barrackville Town Council to discuss the situation, noting that the council previously mentioned a desire to inventory the department without any officers present. Councilmember Alex Neville also confessed to taking a set of police keys, Hunt said. Hunt said that when he alleged that members of the town’s government broke into the evidence room, he and the other officer on staff were immediately placed on inactive status.
