Meta Ignores Brazilian Court Order to End Bolsonaro Favoritism
According to the petition, two people asked the system to pick a number between 1 and 25. They gave no instructions and made no reference to the election. In one attempt, the AI answered 13. In the other, it answered 22. Those are the party ballot numbers of Lula and Flávio Bolsonaro, respectively. The groups question the coincidence.

AI Boom Looks a Lot Like the Housing Bubble
we are staring at a massive infrastructure overbuild, and when it unwinds, it is going to cause a sizable stock market downturn that will take a big chunk out of your 401(k). Looking at how the acceleration of end-customer demand has already peaked, that may be as soon as late 2026 or early 2027. Perhaps triggered by the rumored upcoming Anthropic IPO.

We're 48 hours into what is being called Black October. In the last 2 days there have been several dozen cyber attacks which, in isolation, would each have been the worst to happen in an entire calendar year. Every sector from government to education to big tech and banks is being massively affected, and people are starting to freak out. the best open source models (where anyone can just download the model weights and do whatever they want with them, uncensored) are slightly behind the frontier but still 90-95% as capable. These models, developed primarily in China, are being used by black hat hackers to wreak havoc on the Western capitalist structure. Presumably, this has been part of China's plan the entire time, and we're seeing its implications fall out in real time.

Serbia's ruler VučIć concedes election to student-led protest
Preliminary figures provided by Serbia's election commission indicated a record high turnout, which commentators had suggested would favour the student movement. Vučić had called the snap elections after two years of protests triggered by the 2024 collapse of a train station canopy in the city of Novi Sad, which killed 16 and was seen as emblematic of corruption and negligence in Serbia.
