Opinion: Nothing will be allowed to stop Joe Biden's inauguration - CNN
-
With 10s of 1000s of National Guard troops deploying to Washington D.C., President Trump urged the American public on Wednesday to refrain from violence ahead of President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration, again calling for a peaceful transition of power. Unable to transmit his statement through any form of social media, President Trump asked Fox News to publish the following short comment: > “In light of reports of more demonstrations, I urge that there must be NO violence, NO lawbreaking and NO vandalism of any kind. That is not what I stand for and it is not what America stands for. I call on ALL Americans to help ease tensions and calm tempers. Thank You.”

Impeachment: Trump releases tweet-like statement denouncing violence - Vox
First, Trump’s call for “ALL Americans to help ease tensions and calm tempers” suggests that Democrats share in the guilt for the fact National Guard troops are stationed at the Capitol to protect it from Trump supporters, when in reality they’ve done nothing to incite Trump supporters beyond debunking the lies the president and other Republicans spent months pushing about the “stolen election.”
Second, Trump’s statement doesn’t denounce the aforementioned lies about the election — ones that motivated the rioters who ransacked the Capitol last week in hopes of stopping “the steal.” In fact, while Trump has generically denounced violence a number of times since last week’s riot, he hasn’t once acknowledged the truth that Biden legitimately and decisively won the election.
- k, I get that yall think he's wrong; but can't he just be wrong? He goes away and behaves civilly and is just there, talking, and wrong? Why's that so hard to live with? Remember all them times Mr Gore said the world would end? He still exists, and he's still wrong, and that's ok.

1000s Of National Guard Troops Briefed On Explosives Threat In DC | ZeroHedge
Buzz Feed's Paul McLeod reports, "about 3,000 total national guard troops sheltering in the Capitol right now."
McLeod said Guardsmen had to stay in the Capitol building "overnight because there was nowhere to put all 15,000 troops being brought into DC for inauguration from various state national guards (eg New York sent 1,000)"

Democratic Congressman Conor Lamb told CNN: "They were talking about 4,000 armed "patriots" to surround the Capitol and prevent any Democrat from going in. They have published rules of engagement, meaning when you shoot and when you don't. So this is an organized group that has a plan."
After all, the forces who mobilized to kidnap and kill Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer were promoted by powerful forces within the ruling class who opposed any coronavirus-related restrictions on corporate production and profit. This “back to work” movement had bipartisan support.

Timeline of Capitol riots, from Trump's speech to break in | abc10.com
It was around 2:00 p.m. when the gates on the east and west sides of the Capitol were breached. On the east side, there were about 10 U.S. Capitol Police officers that kept the chanting crowd at bay at the bottom of the steps. For four minutes, that's where they stayed, until they were joined by more U.S. Capitol Police officers, some in full riot gear.
- but yesterday,
This correlates with Sund’s interview, where he admits: “I realized at 1pm, things aren’t going well… I’m watching my people getting slammed.”
- Of course fact dont matter and reality is whatever it needs to be in service of the narrative. The "wrong people" were raising questions about the timing yesterday; so today the invasion happened an hour later and those questions are jsut silly! stupid wrong people. see how wrong they are?

Panic Buttons Taken out of Congressional offices ahead of insurrection
On the House floor, one of Pelosi’s aides asked McGovern to take over in the speaker’s chair. He figured she just needed to take some calls in her office.
“I don’t think she even knew what was about to happen because she left her phone there,” he said. But after a few minutes McGovern was forced to adjourn the House when it became clear Pelosi wasn’t going back to her office but was being evacuated.

(site redirects and does hinky link stuff) Rep. Mikie Sherrill: Remove Congressmembers who led a reconnaissance tour Jan 5
Rep. Mikie Sherrill, during a live webcast Tuesday evening, said she witnessed some members of Congress leading people through the Capitol on Jan. 5 in what she termed a "reconnaissance for the next day" when insurrectionists took part in a deadly siege on the legislative branch.
[Sherrill says:] And so not only do I intend to see that the president is removed and never runs for office again and doesn’t have access to classified material, I also intend to see that those members of Congress who abetted him; those members of Congress who had groups coming through the Capitol that I saw on Jan. 5 – a reconnaissance for the next day; those members of Congress that incited this violent crowd; those members of Congress that attempted to help our president undermine our democracy; I'm going to see they are held accountable, and if necessary, ensure that they don't serve in Congress.”

"Use your words" How To Talk To Kids About The Riots At The U.S. Capitol - capradio.org
"I think I'd probably tell them that today some people threw big naughty grownup temper tantrums because they didn't like how the vote for president turned out. They did this instead of using their words and it was a little scary, just like it can be scary when you see another kid (or sibling?) throw a BIG temper tantrum. They were loud and interrupted our leaders while they were doing important work. But helpers stopped them and our leaders got to do their jobs!"
