Sabine Hossenfelder: Backreaction: We don't know how the universe began, and we will never know
The issue is that physicists can’t accept the scientifically honest answer: We don’t know, and leave it at that. Instead, they change the extrapolation back in time by using a different set of equations. And then you can do all kind of other things, really pretty much anything you want.

Elites’ divide & conquer failure: How middle class now view their rulers with rightly earned disdain
Millions increasingly doubt their children should enroll in either a four-year college or the military, and they assume the FBI, CIA, and Justice Department are as likely to monitor Americans as they are unlikely to find and arrest those engaged in terrorism or espionage.

5 questions for Neal Stephenson- POLITICO
It's just a historical accident that chemical rockets became our only way of putting stuff into space, and if we had started at a different time we would have ended up doing something that works better. One alternative would be beaming energy from the ground to vehicles, using lasers or microwaves. That seems like a doable project right now.

Finland is not a serious country. Kick it out of NATO
This is my business because Finland made it my business when it sought to join NATO. This is not about her. This is about American needing allies who are willing to put serious people in positions of power. We need people as allies whom we can trust. Marin lacks the self-discipline necessary to be a head of state. That Finland has not removed her shows it is unworthy of our military and diplomatic support.

Pentagon IG Doubtful Ukraine Is Tracking US-Supplied Arms, Will Conduct Audit | ZeroHedge
Thursday the Pentagon’s acting Inspector General Sean O’Donnell told Bloomberg that while he believes Ukrainian forces are using up all that they've been given by the US, it remains that there's little "fidelity" as to where the weapons actually end up. This is due in large part, he explained, to the Ukrainians tracking external arms via hand receipts.
