No mention of specific anti worm medications of recent controversy, oddly: How A Worm Gave the South a Bad Name
- in fact i have to say there seems to be a trend of "worm" articles recently; someone's pushing the notion with ads and various articles like this one. Last couple months, perhaps?

The myth of the myth of learning styles | Ned Batchelder
I’m talking about learners finding paths that work for them. Today we have an abundance of learning materials, and learners have to choose among them. Everyone has be empowered to use the ones that suit them. This is a much bigger range than visual/textual/auditory.

Investment Funds Are Now Selling the Rock Songs They Bought
Last year, I predicted the following:
Don’t be surprised if the folks at [private equity group] Blackstone end up owning all those songs. But if it happens, they will probably acquire the music at a sharp discount to what those songs were worth just a few months ago.
Can you guess the buyer in the deal announced on Thursday? Yes, it was a Blackstone-backed fund. And they definitely got that discount.

How TCP's congestion control saved the internet • The Register
ATM proponents used to refer to existing technologies such as Ethernet and TCP/IP as “legacy” protocols that could, if necessary, be carried over the global ATM network once it was established. One of my fond memories from those days is of Steve Deering (a pioneer of IP networking) boldly (and correctly) stating that ATM would never be successful enough to even be a legacy protocol.

I would say this is just one of the myriad ways in which "mobile" sucks; we have implemented universal NOTwork terminals. They enable the minimal necessary affordances for consumption of paid media content and user retention while actively discouraging user input into even so much as those base functions of the device. Never mind any ability to input anything into the "collective consciousness" at a level any more meaningful than that allowed by Twitter.

Joe Biden Is About to Go Where No President Has Gone Before
Next Tuesday, the president will walk a picket line in Michigan to show his support. On Friday UAW president Shawn Fain announced new plans to target GM and Stellantis facilities in 20 states and issued a public invitation to Biden—and “everyone who supports our cause”—to “join us on the picket lines.”

Cavities were cured in 1985, and no one knows it yet
It is possible to genetically engineer Streptococcus mutans, the dominant human mouth bacteria, to produce ethanol instead of cavity-causing lactic acid. Further modifications cause it to outcompete native mouth bacteria, without spreading outside of the mouth. All research suggests that a one-time brushing of this GMO strain onto the teeth will dramatically reduce, or entirely eliminate, dental caries. A variant of this organism was first created in 1985, and volunteers deliberately inoculated themselves with the modified strain. This has, to our knowledge, caused no ill effects since
