How do you deal with people who strongly disagree with your views?
Ask more questions. You can often effortlessly weaken the stance of someone who has not given much thought to an issue just by asking them questions. Don’t ‘challenge them’. Ask genuine questions. The objective is not to break their views with questions, but to establish the playing ground. Many people are unclear about what they think they believe. They may simply be repeated what they heard.
Focus on what you share in common. Often, the disagreement is smaller than you think. Furthermore, you can sometimes entirely avoid a conflict by establishing strong agreement on many points.

So You Think You Could Be an Electrician?
While the median sticker price for four-year college has dramatically increased over the past 30 years, most students pay much less than the advertised price. The average net paid price for public in-state college tuition and fees was under $2,500 per year in 2024 and has been declining since 2016. So: The actual price paid for college isn’t very high and is declining. Obtaining a college degree unlocks higher wages. Plus, white-collar jobs are safe and easy.

Trump Administration Limits Predatory Lending in Education
I mocked the term “predatory lending” when it first became common in the financial crisis but in this case predatory lending fits the bill because the real borrower isn’t the individual student. Under income-driven repayment, the taxpayer is a forced co-signer, and it’s the taxpayer who gets predated.

Borrowing stable money to pay off the credit card was good for a 7% pop in its share value. That is a mania, and it's everywhere. SoftBank serves merely as an example, because it isn't alone. It's going to be ugly when it blows.

A Cold War Spy Satellite Named After Farrah Fawcett Just Blew Apart in Orbit
An American spy satellite unexpectedly shattered into pieces, creating a cloud of debris in low-Earth orbit. The U.S. Space Force’s satellite tracking system confirmed the satellite, officially designated as USA-32, broke apart on September 13 at 5:13 p.m. ET. It was labeled as a fragmentation event, which means the satellite suddenly exploded into smaller pieces, but the cause of its unplanned breakup has yet to be identified.

One of the pilots on Flydubai flight FZ1073 was Omani, two Israeli officials told CNN earlier. One of the officials said the Omani national was the co-pilot, allegedly the attacker in the violent incident. Oman and Israel do not have formal diplomatic relations. It is not yet clear how the Omani pilot would have obtained clearance to fly to Israel.
