Paul Linebarger wrote science fiction as Cordwainer Smith
Paul Linebarger, who under his own name played many roles: U.S. Army colonel, CIA operative, psychological warfare expert, scholar of Asia, teacher, adviser to an American president. He was a husband twice and a father twice. His godfather was the first president of modern China, Sun Yat-sen. He may have been the central unhinged character in a famous psychiatric case study. But it was his science fiction—published as Cordwainer Smith—that gilds his legacy today.

Taco Bell petitions to end trademark of ‘Taco Tuesday’
The restaurant chain Taco Bell filed a petition on Tuesday to end the chain Taco John’s trademark of the phrase “Taco Tuesday,” arguing that it should be available for all who sell tacos. Taco Bell said in a release that the trademark, which has been in place since 1989, has put companies at risk of legal action if they want to use the phrase. It said the chain is not seeking any damages or trademark rights but wants “common sense for usage of a common term.”

The Far-Reaching Effects of US Intelligence Officers Lies to the American Public
This was something that should never have happened irregardless of who did it. Ignore the contents of the laptop, ignore the candidates, focus on the fact you were lied straight to your face about that letter and where it came from. It had no basis in fact and was manufactured by a campaign and its allies to make it seem like a credible source from the US intelligence community when it fact it was a politically motivated campaign ad with no basis in fact that ended up directly affecting a US Presidential election.

PCIe Deep Dive, Part 1: Tool Hunt
This was one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen under the microscope. Each spring pin has a surface-mount resistor soldered into its tip, and encased in epoxy. What the multi-GHz fuck is going on with these? Well, I suspect they each make up part of a passive probe, also called a Low-Z or Z0 probe. This video explains the concept in detail; it's forming a resistive divider with the 50Ω termination. But it must have extremely low capacitance on the input side of the resistor, hence the resistors embedded in the tips.
